About Me

Hi, I’m Nicky - the designer, lettering artist, and mum behind Paper Heart Design.

I’ve always had a passion for design. After taking every art class I could in school, I went on to earn a Bachelor of Design in the early 2000s. Since then, I’ve worked as a graphic designer for Cookie Time, on the design team at the Christchurch City Council (where I was the lead designer for iconic events like New Zealand Cup & Show Week and KidsFest), and most recently as a magazine designer at Fairfax (now Stuff).

After becoming a mum, my focus shifted toward creating keepsake books and prints - all thoughtfully designed to document life’s most special moments. My first milestone book, ‘Hey Baby’, was a huge success, and since then, I’ve expanded my range to include pregnancy, toddler, school, and wedding keepsake journals.

I feel incredibly lucky to run my small business from home while spending time with my young boys. It’s a privilege to help families capture, cherish, and celebrate their most precious memories.
