About Me

Hi, thanks for stopping by! I'm Nicky, the designer, lettering artist and mum behind Paper Heart Design.

I always knew I wanted to work in design, and after taking all the art classes I could at school, I graduated with a Bachelor of Design in the early 2000's. Since then, as well as freelancing, I've worked as a graphic designer for Cookie Time, on the design team at the Christchurch City Council, where I was lead designer on iconic events including New Zealand Cup and Show Week and KidsFest, and most recently as a magazine designer at Fairfax (now Stuff).

My love of typography led me to hand lettering, and after buying my first set of brush pens, I haven't looked back.

After having my first child Brodie, I shifted my focus to designing keepsake books and prints for other Kiwi families. My first book - Hey Baby - a keepsake book for baby's first year was a big success, and from there I have expanded my range to include pregnancy, toddler, school and wedding keepsake journals.

Not everyone gets to do what they love, so I feel extremely lucky to be able to run this small business from home, while spending quality time with my family.

It's a real privilege to be able to help other families create, cherish and document their special memories.
